Summary

The report describes the basis for calculating the so-called MCF factor (methane conversion factor) which is used for calculating methane emissions from manure in the Danish inventories of greenhouse gas emissions from the agricultural sector. The data basis for this calculation is based on results from a number of projects initiated by Biogas Task Force, and based on this it has been possible to estimate a national MCF for cattle and pig manure, respectively untreated and degassed slurry. In addition, the report includes assessments of changes in emissions from cooling of slurry and reduced retention time of the slurry in the livestock housing facility that can help to create a professional basis for valuation of the positive externalities of biogas production.
