Summary

Skjoldungernes Land National Park is working with boulder reef restoration in the Roskilde Fjord. The two locations Nørrerev and an area off Ægholm have been investigated to provide a visual description of the biological con-tent prior deployment of new boulder reefs. Blue mussels covered the stones found in the area at water depths exceeding 2½m. At shallower water depths, filamentous macro algae took over as the dominating biotic component at the hard stable substrate. In addition to the macro algae, bryozoans and fjord sponge were also recorded. The sandy bottom contains beds of eelgrass, at shallow depth even with high shoot densities and covering larger areas. The project revealed limited mobile fauna in the examined areas. The most abun-dant mobile fish fauna was stickleback, but herring, needlefish, gobies and flatfish were also recorded by the deployed underwater cameras. The cameras were positioned in the upcoming reef areas.
