DCE is responsible for most of the Danish public sector consultancy in the area of environmental and nature management. The aim is to provide research-based consultancy services for the public sector and other decision-makers, with holistic guidance and integrated models and decision support systems. Research-based consultancy ensures that the latest methods and analyses, etc. are used as a basis for providing this service.

DCE has a number of functions that can be included under the term research-based public sector consultancy. Our customers are the Danish Ministry of the Environment and the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building. At DCE, we also have an obligation to provide consultancy services for the Greenland Environment Agency for Mineral Resources Activities. We have entered into a framework agreement (available in Danish only) between Aarhus University (AU) and the Ministry of the Environment for carrying out DCE/AU’s research-based public sector consultancy.

DCE draws on the entire knowledge base at Aarhus University when we provide research-based consultancy services. Environmental research and consultancy at Aarhus University are mainly carried out by departmental staff members at the Department of Bioscience and the Department of Environmental Science, which have approximately 450 employees altogether. The consultancy services are based on internationally acknowledged research.
