DCE and DCA workshop on greening agriculture

Modern agriculture has a huge influence on nature. The access to cheap nutrients, chemicals and effective machinery has dramatically changed European agriculture.

Now we see large effects on nature both inside and outside agricultural areas. The free access to nutrients raise also questions on regulations – taxes and control.

A one and a half day meeting will be held 24-25 April 2013 where the challenges of tomorrow will be discussed.

There will be speakers from companies, researchers and administrators which all will come with their view on where we are now, where are we going and which possibilities do we have to reduce the environmental burden.

A head line could be: ”Greening agriculture and how do we reach the target?”. There will be targeted short presentations on:

  • Green Growth – a definition
  • Bioeconomy
  • Demands from the society to agriculture
  • The need for specific agricultural zones
  • Regulation - taxes and the need for control
  • Where are the production limits for our animal husbandry
  • How much can today and tomorrow technology reduce the environmental burden

The meeting will be held in English in connection with two Task Force meetings under UNECEs Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTAP), e.g. TFIAM (Task Force on Integrated Assessment and Management, (TFIAM) and TFRN (Task Force on Reactive Nitrogen (TFRN)
