DCE millions to research in healthy cities and resource efficiency

In 2012-13 DCE - Danish Centre for Environment and Energy supports nine research projects and one conference and communication project at Aarhus University with DKK 10 million. The projects have been chosen so as to underpin society’s need for knowledge within the environment and nature area, in Denmark as well as abroad.

The 10 million Danish kroner are directed at increasing our knowledge within the areas of resource efficiency, healthy cities and nature and biodiversity, areas that the DCE has identified as being of special strategic importance.

Besides creating new knowledge of nature and environment, the research projects will also contribute to generating an improved scientific basis and development towards a green society – and strengthen the research capacity of Aarhus University within these fields.

On 25 June 2012 the Aarhus University management awarded the strategic funding of DKK 10 million and the projects will be initiated as soon as possible.

The research projects will be undertaken at the university’s departments of Bioscience and Environmental Science, while DCE - Danish Centre for Environment and Energy will host the environmental conference to take place in 2013 as a follow-up to the first international environmental conference that DCE arranged with great success in 2011.
